Guest Artist

Dina Gata May – June

We are getting ready to welcome outstanding artist Dina Gata as a guest artist at Heritage Gallery & Studio for May and June!

“There are no mistakes in this world, only different ways of expression.

I love to let my hand flow without thinking, and to be surprised by the result. At the same time, I am not afraid to limit myself by the rules not created by me. When your energy is strong it will find its way out. A palette knife is the only thing I need to be inspired by the magic of pure colors, when dreams change into reality and turn actual reality into dreams.”… says Dina

Growing up in Russia, Dina attended painting and drawing classes, but her passion for journalism soon took over. After immigrating to the U.S. from Prague in 2001 she rekindle her patience for art and got an opportunity to take private lessons from successful local artists, Irina Milton and Emilia Lane.

Workshop with very famous Russian artist – Elena Goubar’s  started a new path for Dina. “Expressionism with a twist” became her inspiring force for artistic endeavor.

Her first art show was held in May 2016 in Cafe Louvre, in Edmonds, WA.

In May 2017, her work were selected for a permanent exposition in Heritage Gallery, Bothell, WA.

Artist’s reception is May 13, 3 – 7 pm!

  Liana Bennett March-April

Liana was born in 1948 in North Wales, her family moved to Canada then on to LA in 1954. As a kid she drew all the time and not much else. Clayton Williams was an amazing art teacher that Liana was privileged to have all her high school years. She won a scholarship to Art Center School while in “high school and Chouinard (now CalArts) after school. Liana started working as an artist at 19 in various studios doing what ever was needed to earn a living. Started teaching at 27. Moved to Seattle in 1983 and opened ARTS UMBRELLA ART CENTER in 1984. Liana wanted a place that young artists could come and be with their peers and practice their art. Liana would have loved a place like that! Arts Umbrella Center also offers classes and workshops for adults who have waited a long time to do their art. The students journey through art brings Liana incredible joy.

Liana paints in acrylics, oils and mixed media. The figure challenges her to this day and will always be the subject that she is pulled to. Liana needs to feel a connection to whatever she paints, places she’s been, people she knows. Abstracts and abstraction is another area that Liana loves to explore.

“Been in galleries, won some awards, juried shows, but mostly just trudged along trying to reach that next elusive level of competence in my art. The whole art world amazes me, all of it, Sargent to Rothko. Better than cake!” Liana said.
